Day 17: Sunrise Surf at Salani – A Morning to Remember
As my surfing adventure in Samoa entered its final stretch, I returned to Upolu’s southern coast, this time heading to the famous Salani Surf Resort. Known for its consistent waves and stunning location, Salani is a must-visit for any serious surfer.
I arrived at the resort in the early morning, just as the sun was beginning to rise. The sky was painted in shades of pink and orange, and the ocean was a perfect mirror, reflecting the beauty of the sunrise. I paddled out into the lineup, where the waves were already starting to roll in.
The surf at Salani was incredible—long, powerful waves that broke over a deep reef, offering endless opportunities for carving and barrel riding. The morning light made everything feel surreal, and I felt a deep sense of connection with the ocean as I rode wave after wave.
After an unforgettable session, I returned to the resort for a hearty breakfast, feeling energized and ready for the day ahead.
Day 18: Surfing the Legendary Boulders Break
With the morning session at Salani setting the tone for the day, I decided to venture further along the coast to check out Boulders, one of Samoa’s most famous and challenging surf breaks. Located near the village of Siumu, Boulders is known for its powerful waves and heavy reef, making it a spot for experienced surfers only.
As I paddled out, I could feel the energy of the waves—a mix of excitement and a bit of fear. The waves at Boulders were fast and hollow, breaking over a sharp, shallow reef. It was a test of skill and nerve, but the reward was some of the most thrilling rides of my entire trip.
Each wave at Boulders was an adrenaline rush, with steep drops and deep barrels that left me breathless. The power of the ocean was awe-inspiring, and I knew that this session would be one I’d never forget.
Day 19: Relaxation and Reflection at Salamumu Beach
After the intense surf at Boulders, I decided to take a day to relax and recharge at Salamumu Beach. Salamumu is a quieter spot, with gentle waves and a laid-back vibe, making it the perfect place to unwind after the previous day’s adrenaline-fueled session.
I spent the morning surfing the mellow waves, focusing on style and flow rather than speed and power. The water was warm and inviting, and I found myself completely relaxed as I glided along the waves.
In the afternoon, I took a break from surfing to explore the surrounding area, finding hidden coves and enjoying the beauty of the Samoan coastline. The day ended with a beautiful sunset, casting a golden glow over the beach as I reflected on my journey so far.
Day 20: Sunset Bliss at Aganoa Beach
As the day came to an end, I returned to Aganoa Beach for one final sunset session. The waves were smaller than the first time I surfed here, but the conditions were perfect for a relaxing and enjoyable session.
The sunset was spectacular, with the sky turning shades of red, orange, and purple as the sun dipped below the horizon. I caught a few final waves, savouring each moment as the light faded and the stars began to appear in the sky.
Sitting on the beach, watching the last light of the day disappear, I felt a deep sense of peace and contentment. Samoa had given me so much—epic waves, stunning scenery, and a connection to the ocean and the island’s culture that I would carry with me long after my journey was over.
